8U all-stars place second at district tourney while 10U all-star team finishes third

According to a press release sent Monday by Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department, two all-star teams fared well at their respective district tournaments. The local 8U boys came home with a runner-up trophy while the 10U boys finished third.

Both Georgia Recreation and Park Association Class B, District 1 tournaments were played last week.

The 8U tournament required the local group journey to Thomson, and the 10U tournament sent the boys on the road to Effingham County.

While at Sweetwater Park, the 8U boys took down host Thomson-McDuffie 24–19 and Effingham County 25–24, putting them in the championship game versus Waynesboro-Burke. Unfortunately, the local boys fell 30–14 in that contest but played well enough throughout to cement a runner-up finish.

The 10U boys played at Clarence E. Morgan Complex and took on host Effingham County in the opener, winning 43–5. Swainsboro-Emanuel then fell to Dublin-Laurens 35–11. (This same competitor would go on to win the tournament.)

Members of the 8U all-star team were Emery Watson Jr., Christopher Outler, Hudson Ware, Cameron Foster, KJ Coleman, Drake Clements, Jacob Griffin, Crushad Mincey, and Tamorrion Daniels. Emery Watson, Kawaski Coleman, and Jansen Ware coached them.

On the 10U all-star roster were Jonquin Mckinney, Sha’Ron Sherrod, Chase Banks, Jeriahan Miles, Jeffery Davis, Devin Cuyler, Ashton David, Zilen Boynton, Justin Nobles, and Eric Worthen Jr. David Coleman and Kawame Coleman were their coaches.
