Ada Sapp Burke, 85

Graveside services for Ada Sapp Burke, 85 of Swainsboro, will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rountree Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Hampton presiding. The family received friends Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. She passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Pruitt Health Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ada Sapp Burke was born March 18, 1936 in Metter to the late Cecil Johnson and Idella Sapp. She was a member of Rountree Grove Baptist Church and served faithfully for more than 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Burke Sr.; sons, Willie Lee Burke, Benjamin F. Burke Jr., and Earlie Burke; daughters, Rosa Lee Young and Betty Ann Burke; grandson, William “Rah Rah” Strange; brothers, James Sapp and Bill Sapp; and sisters, Annie Ruth Sapp, Ida Bullard, Lillie Sapp, and Mattie Pearl Mansfield.
Survivors include her sons, Jim F. Burke and Roosevelt Burke, both of Metter, and Robert L. Burke of Swainsboro; daughters, Shirley Burke of Raeford, North Carolina, Lillie (Rickey) Jenkins and Rebecca Burke, both of Metter, Leonia (Thomas) Pierce of Millen, Regina (John) Hughes of Swainsboro, and Rutha Williams of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Nelson of Miami, Florida; brother-in-law, Buck Wiggins of Plainsville, New Jersey; special nieces, Betty Robinson and Doris Randall; 46 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Alonzo Burke, Stephen Burke, Mark Burke, William Brown, Markell Burke, and Ricky Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Burke, Darius Burke, Perry Burke, Timothy Burke, Dewayne Pierce, Brandon Burke, and Cleveland Scott.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
