Adrian PD catches robbery suspect

One man is now in custody following an alleged robbery in Adrian.

On Saturday, October 16, around 1:45 p.m., 55-year-old Fred Patrick Raymond of Adrian entered Farmhouse Cafe and allegedly attempted to take money from the tip jar.

His attempt was unsuccessful, and the jar was moved behind the counter by the eatery’s cashier. When the cashier walked away to take an order, Raymond reportedly snatched the jar from its new location and tried to flee with it.

His efforts were stopped again, and he fled to Jet Food just up the street, a location from which he is banned.

Adrian Police Department was notified of the events and went to Raymond’s residence. There, he was taken into custody and transported to the county jail, where he remains.

Today, the suspect is facing several charges, including “snatch and grab” robbery and criminal trespassing.

“We would like to thank everyone who intervened in this criminal activity and helped to prevent these hard workers from losing their hard-earned tips,” Chief Kyle Strickland said. “Thank you for your continued support.”
