Alan John Aston, 87

Memorial services for Alan John Aston, 87 of Swainsboro, were held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at The Harvester Baptist Church in Swainsboro with Rev. Andrew Lee officiating with interment following at Eastbrook Cemetery. The family received friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. He was called to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on March 30, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Alan John Aston was born March 6, 1935 in the United Kingdom. While serving in the British Royal Marines, he met Beryl and they married January 7, 1956. He continued service in the British Royal Marines for 23 years, then was employed by the Royal Automobile Club as a mechanic. After retirement in 2000, Mr. Aston and Beryl, as well as their daughter, Rachel, felt led of the Lord to move to Swainsboro in 2001. Since that time, he and his family have served faithfully at The Harvester Baptist Mission. Mr. Aston’s service at the mission and his church was something he dearly loved and was very much a part of his life until just a few months before he passed away. While stationed in Singapore with the British Royal Marines from 1968 to 1970, the Astons met Cliff and Eloise Hunnicutt Jr., missionaries from Swainsboro. A lifelong friendship was forged during that time and continued for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Beryl Mary Aston, and daughter, Rachel, both of Swainsboro. Other survivors, primarily in the UK, are sons Alan Jr. (Valerie), Paul (of Mexico), and Phillip (Syanne); daughter Lynn Watson (Philip), Heli, mother of Daniel and Kristopher (of Finland); seven grandsons, Neil, Mark, Daniel, Kristopher, Daniel, Bobby, and Noah; four granddaughters, Hannah, Lydia, Julia, and Johanna; two great-grandsons; Elijah and Isaac, one great-granddaughter, Sophia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cliff Hunnicutt III, Chu Lin Ooi, Hwee Tio, Luke Lee, Felix Close, and George Close were honorary pallbearers.

Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
