American Legion selected as Harveys Community Bag Program beneficiary

Updated: Mar 10, 2022

Swainsboro American Legion Post 103 has been selected as a beneficiary of the Community Bag Program by Harveys Supermarket for the month of March.

This initiative, which launched in February 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with a goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

Swainsboro American Legion Post 103 was selected as the March beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Harveys located in Swainsboro. As such, Post 103 will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.99 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during March (unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag).

“This is another way for this wonderful community to continue helping veterans in the local community,” said Scotty Nasworthy, financial officer of Swainsboro American Legion Post 103. “Most people receive mailings for donations but never know what those donations are used for. Donations that we receive at the local level stay local. They are used to help local veterans in this community.”

Swainsboro American Legion Post 103 is a non-profit based in Swainsboro. Founded in 1922, the local post has continued to fight for veteran benefits and continues to help with all aspects of support in the community.
