Angels Beneteau 10U wins St. Paddy’s Day Classic

If travel ball success is a reliable indicator, softball’s future here is bright! Several local girls who play on Angels Beneteau 10U, based out of Swainsboro, won the USSSA St. Paddy’s Day Classic in Rincon this past weekend.

The team traveled south on March 13 and won all five games they played in route to the tournament title.

Sophie Farrow, Jennifer Hernandez, Mylie Beneteau, Kaley Flowers, Kabreigh Hostilo, Raleigh Faircloth, Leah Paul, Lilly Durden, Abby Lewis, Haley Roberson, Anna Grace Scarborough, Mary Bess Fields, and Charley Mitchell took down both other teams in their division to leave the tournament victorious.

Angels Beneteau secured the title with a 9-5 win against Effingham SWAT in the championship game.

Several players racked up individual accomplishments throughout the tournament as well.

Farrow pitched her first-ever full game, winning that game 12-8.

Faircloth also pitched her first-ever full game, had a no-hitter, and hit an inside-the-park homer, scoring 3 runs. She was selected by the other teams’ coach as MVP.

Mitchell was the winning pitcher for Angels Beneteau 10U in the championship game. The ace lasted 2.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs while striking out 8.

In addition, Faircloth, Durden, Beneteau, and Mitchell all managed 1 hit to lead the team in the championship game. Collectively, the team stole 22 bases during this particular outing as six players stole more than 1 with Paul leading the way with 4.
