Another week, another sweep

Heading into this week the Bulldogs had won their last four games coming into this big week against region rival Jenkins County. Game one was an offensive game, as the Bulldogs tallied eleven hits in the 12-6 victory. Several Dawgs had big days at the plate, but none bigger than Bryce Kearson who went 3-4 with a triple and four runs scored. Lawson Mercer started the game for the Dawgs going five innings surrendering six runs and striking out six.

In game two, Bryce Kearson toed the rubber and he was dominant going five innings allowing one hit and striking out 10 and at the plate hit homered. Hudson Henry and Gabe Lee both had multi-hit games in the affair. The Dawgs rolled off of six walks and nine hits to run-rule Jenkins County in five innings, 10-0.

Game three was the closest game of the series as the Dawgs went for another sweep and put themselves in the driver’s seat of the region. The Dawgs gave the ball to Andrew Chalkley in this one. He went 4 ⅓ striking out six and only allowing two runs, all the while picking up the win. Jacob Durden finished this one for the Dawgs striking out five in 2 ⅔ allowing one run. Gabe Lee and Tuff Boddiford both had multi-hit games, but the big hit of the day came on Jacob Durden’s Grand Slam in the third inning to lead them to a 6-3 win and sweep.

This week the Bulldogs have a break in region action. They will take on Toombs County at home on Wednesday, March 29 and go to Savannah Country Day on Thursday, March 30.
