Application period for Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship now open

Durden Banking Co., Inc. is now accepting applications for the Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship.

DBC offers a local scholarship winner $250 and submits all applications to the Community Bankers Association (CBA) of Georgia. CBA is sponsoring four $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school graduates seeking to enter Georgia university, college, or technical institute (if the program is two or more years) in the fall quarter of 2021. This scholarship is based on academic merit, not financial need.

The scholarship is named after long-time CBA chief executive officer, the late Julian Hester, and his late daughter, Jan Hester. Jan was a senior at the University of Georgia when she died in an auto accident on April 15, 1990.

The Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship fund introduces and hopefully promotes a better understanding of the role played by the community banks in Georgia.

Scholarship applications may be obtained from any Durden Banking Co., lnc. office. For information, contact Joyce Cannady, scholarship coordinator, at 478-763-2I21. Completed applications must be received by the bank by April 2, 2020.
