Area worker covers cost of birthday balloon bouquet

Kristy Hodge is a newcomer to Swainsboro, and she recently found out what makes this area so special—the people.

A few weeks ago, Hodge found herself at the local Family Dollar. She had to order a balloon bouquet for her patient’s 84th birthday. A young man by the name of Carlos took her order and she went on her way, returning the next day to pick up the arrangement.

To her surprise, Carlos had paid for it in full. Even better, he left a note for her that brought her to tears.

“I just wanted to put him in the paper with a public thank-you because being new to Swainsboro, this is what community is about,” Hodge said. “He was a super nice young man and deserves the recognition.”
