Bennett “Seadog” Beasley had a weekend he’ll never forget. The 6-year-old son of Swainsboro couple Stephen and Casey Beasley scored his first deer on Sunday, October 17, around 6:30 p.m. while hunting on club land on the Savannah River in Augusta.
Beasley used a .350 Legend rifle for the shot that took down a 180-pound eight point buck. He was with his dad at the time, who explained that the deer initially ran off. Beasley’s disappointment turned to excitement once they located blood while trailing the animal. When the father-son duo found him, Beasley was overjoyed. (However, he is most proud of killing a bigger deer than his sister.)
Beasley began hunting when he was 4-years-old. He is a student at Swainsboro Primary School in Heather Canady’s first grade class.
