Bobby Ray Walker, 84

Funeral services for Bobby Ray Walker, 84 of Swainsboro, were held Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 3 p.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brad McKenzie officiating. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum. The family received friends Sunday one hour prior to the service at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors. He died Friday, May 13, 2022 at Emanuel Medical Center.
Mr. Bobby Ray Walker was born September 1, 1937 in Swainsboro to the late Manning and Mary Peebles Walker. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 30 years of service in Swainsboro, and he loved working in his yards, trips to the mountains, and family gatherings with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Walker adored going to church, and reading his Bible was his most favorite pastime. The best storyteller, he seemed to remember everything and could make people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of Jesus Saves Church of Swainsboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, Jerri Canady Walker; two daughters, Karen Walker and Cynthia Ford; a sister, Patricia Kemp; a brother, Donnie Walker and his beloved furbaby, Mollie.
Survivors include his daughters, Melanie Powell of Reidsville, Teresa Newsome (Ronnie) of Blundale, and Tammy Donaldson (Lew) of Twin City; son, Mike Walker (Kelly) of Martinez; sister Sue Moss of Macon; brother, Jimmie Walker of North Augusta, South Carolina; grandchildren, Carla Wilson Foots, Crystal Wilson, Magen McLendon (Cage), Kristen Powell, Joey Newsome (Heather), Mandy Kettles (Lincoln), Erica Smith, Eric Warren (Valerie), Zach Walker, Shane Walker and Kristen Walker; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Joey Newsome, Lincoln Kettles, Cage McLendon, Eric Warren, Eric Webber and Ashley Roberson were pallbearers.
