Brier Creek Chapter hears about latest battlefield preservation efforts

A hot topic among area Georgia Society – Sons of the American Revolution chapters remains updates about the historic Brier Creek Battlefield near Sylvania. Several individuals have presented the most up-to-date information about efforts to preserve the site.

One of those recent talks was given by Swainsboro’s Compatriot Dess Smith, who attended the Brier Creek Chapter’s October monthly meeting at the American Legion in Sylvania and delivered to the other 11 attendees updates on the progress made by Brier Creek Revolutionary War Battlefield Association, Inc.

During that same meeting, Compatriot Hu Daughtry of the Mill Creek Chapter based out of Statesboro presented on his Revolutionary War descendants, the Pitts Family, outlining each generation until present day.

Hu was introduced as the guest speaker by Compatriot Don Bazemore, who also serves as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Brier Creek Chapter.
