Funeral services for Carlton L. Jones, 79 of Swainsboro, were held Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Elder Paul Thomas officiating. The family received friends from 2:15 p.m. until the service began. Interment followed at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at PruittHealth-Old Capitol Nursing Home in Louisville after an extended illness.
Born December 19, 1941, Mr. Carlton L. Jones was the son of Henry Clyde Jones and Alma Lester Jones of Canoochee. He was a simple man who found joy in simple pleasures such as good country food, diet Cokes, and milkshakes. He enjoyed laughing, joking and teasing others, working on word puzzles, watching wrestling and the Braves on TV, riding around with his wife, and listening to gospel and country music. He was a member of Canoochee Baptist Church, but he attended United Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro after he married. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Jones; and a special niece, Sheri Dailey Dodd.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Barbara Chance Jones; one son, Timothy Jones; two sisters, Peggy Dailey and Sara Moore (Randy); two granddaughters, Aubrey St. Aubin and Arabella Lumley; one niece, Kelli Brown (Chris); four nephews, Mark Dailey (Shelia), Shannon Dailey (Lisa), Chris Dailey (Renee), and Kyle Moore (Shannon); several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Wanda Ellis and John and Carolyn Derden.
Pallbearers were Mark Dailey, Shannon Dailey, Chris Dailey, Randy Moore, Kyle Moore, and Chris Brown.
Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
