Cerpovicz crowned Miss EGSC 2021



The 2021 Miss East Georgia State College Pageant was held Saturday, April 10, in the Luck F. Gambrell Center Auditorium. Anita Cerpovicz was crowned the new Miss EGSC, Grace Gardner was first runner-up, and Diana Hernandez was second runner-up. Raven Mickens was named the People’s Choice Award winner.


The six contestants who competed for the crown participated in a private interview with the judges, on-stage question, casual wear, and evening gown. The theme for the scholarship pageant was “Secret Garden.”


Cerpovicz is a junior at EGSC pursuing a degree in biology. She is the 21-year-old daughter of Paul Cerpovicz and Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz of Statesboro. Her platform is education. She is the president of the Cirkle K Club and the STEMM Club. She is also a member of the EGSC Beekeeping Club and a Correll Scholar. Cerpovicz was also awarded the Interview Award and the Community Star Award.


Gardner, first runner-up in the pageant, is the 19-year-old daughter of Lee and Shanna Gardner of Waynesboro. A sophomore Correll Scholar pursuing a degree in biology, she is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa.


Hernandez, second runner-up, is a sophomore Correll Scholar at EGSC. She is the 21-year-old daughter of Carlos Hernandez and Arcenia Bello of Glennville who plans to obtain a degree in early childhood education. Hernandez was also awarded the Miss Congeniality, which was voted on by the pageant contestants.


Mickens, People’s Choice Award winner, is the 18-year-old daughter of Rodney and Valerie Mickens of Lincolnton. This award was voted on by family and friends through social media.


Miss EGSC 2019 Kathryn Cox shared memories of her year during the event and crowned the new queen. Special entertainment was provided by Katie Griswold, Zaylin Lee, Savannah Thompson, and Hannah Camerero from All Star Dance Academy.


The pageant was hosted by EGSC’s Student Government Association.
