Chamber Member Spotlight: PruittHealth

PruittHealth began as Toccoa Nursing Center in 1969 and was founded by Neil Pruitt Sr. Since then, the PruittHealth community of services has grown to encompass more than 90 post-acute, skilled nursing, and assisted living locations as well as home health care, hospice, rehabilitation, veteran care, and consultative pharmaceutical services. PruittHealth is now located throughout Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. For more than 50 years, the company has ensured the peace of mind of patients, residents, clients, and families through its commitment to quality healthcare. PruittHealth Hospice of Swainsboro opened in 1994, has been a chamber member since 2004, and currently consists of 50 employees.
PruittHealth Hospice provides services at the final stage of life and seeks to enable patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and manage other symptoms so their last days may be spent with dignity and quality surrounded by their loved ones. The Pruitt team believes in caring for the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of every patient. Through PruittHealth Hospice, both patient and family will find comfort, support, closure, personal, and spiritual peace and an appreciation for the fullness of life. Hospice provides family-centered care, involving the patient and family in the decision-making process. Care is provided for the patient and family 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospice care can be given in a patient’s home, hospital, nursing home, or wherever the patient may reside. The PruittHealth team includes nurses, nurses’ aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers.

Besides caring for the individuals and families in the community, PruittHealth is involved in community activities as well, including being chamber and Rotary members. PruittHealth Hospice is the only hospice located in Swainsboro and Emanuel County. The company enjoys being a part of the community and taking care of local residents. PruittHealth Hospice recently added to its name and is now referred to as “PruittHealth Hospice and Palliative Care” to reflect its newly begun program and service called palliative care.
