Chamber Member Spotlight: Southern Traditions Floral & Gifts

Jim Roberts, owner and operator of Southern Traditions Floral and Gifts, started in the florist business almost 30 years ago. He worked his way through college and after graduating from UGA, he started his own florist back in his hometown of Swainsboro.

Southern Traditions Floral and Gifts was started in 2000, consists of two employees, and is a full-service florist, providing floral designs for all occasions, including sympathy, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, births, holidays, and much more. Southern Traditions also carries a large selection of gift items, home décor, and jewelry.

Each year, during November, the florist provides the community with a wonderful Christmas open house, which consists of window reveals, door prizes, amazing food, and a wonderland of Christmas.

The building where the business is located has been in Roberts’ family for more than 50 years with his grandfather, John R. Roberts, having Roberts-Cruce Tractor Company located there at one time.

Today, Roberts places much value on serving the community and making it the best it can be for generations to come. His goal is to have a place people enjoy coming to where they can always count on great customer service and wonderful products.

Roberts serves on the Board of Emanuel Arts Council, the Downtown Development Authority, and the chamber of commerce. He also supports many local clubs and organizations throughout the year and is very involved in his church.

Southern Traditions Floral and Gifts is a chamber member because Roberts believes the chamber helps local businesses and organizations to make this community the best it can be and provides an avenue to interact with other businesses. The chamber also gives insight into the progress of the community and ways to be involved.
