Christmas festival to begin in two weeks

The Jol Boro Festival kicks off its inaugural event on November 27 and will run the four consecutive Saturday evenings before Christmas Eve.
Vendors and activities will be set up from 4 to 8 p.m. on the fountain square in downtown Swainsboro.
Swainsboro hasn’t had a Christmas festival in many years, and the organizers who brought the public the Swainsboro Emanuel Farmers Market are hoping to change that with Jol Boro.
“Jol Boro means ‘yuletide village,’ a place filled with Christmas joy and the spirit of the season,” Darby Gates, one of the individuals leading the new Christmas festival, explained. “Local vendors will be selling their handcrafted wares, there will be delicious local food and treats, and, most importantly, fun family activities and entertainment. We will even have a ‘sleigh ride!’”
Make plans today to join in the celebration. Official dates are November 27, December 4, December 11, and December 18.
