Coleman Hotel to be discussion topic at historic society’s upcoming meeting

The Emanuel County Historic Society will meeting this Thursday, January 27, at the Varner 4-H Clubhouse.
The club’s Missy Elder says the highlight of the event will be a program on a historic location in town.
“The older generation remembers the era of the 1930s when depression was rampant and yet, some good came at the end of that century,” Elder said. “The Frank Mitchell Family built a hotel in Swainsboro, the John C. Coleman. We’ll be discussing that hotel this week.”
The public is invited to come to the meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. with a potluck dinner. For more information, call 478-763-3631. Masks will not be required.
