On Monday, November 21st at 6 p.m, the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners met for their regularly scheduled meeting. Commissioners Dessie Davis, Hugh Foskey, James Canady and chairman Jim Sherrod were present along with county administrator Guy Singletary and county attorney Richard McNeely.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting on October 17, 2022 and the Workshop Meeting on November 10, 2022 were approved.
Administrator Singletary requested the council adopt the Airport Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) already adopted by the city and requested the council ask Butch Parrish and Max Burns to introduce legislation for an Airport Authority. Both motions passed.
Appointments of the following personnel were made: Health Department Board Appointment, Stephanie Fagler; Library Board Appointments, Betsy Johnson, Gloria Mason, and Sandra Rountree; Development Authority Board, Will Donaldson and Kenny Griffin will be reappointed.
Singletary announced the December commissioners meeting will start at 6:45 p.m. and the first part of the meeting will be service awards. Then they will move into the regular meeting. He praised Public Works and Keep Emanuel Beautiful for the Scrap Tire Amnesty program that removed thousands of tires from the community. He also reported that the first asphalt went down last week for the Senior Center. Once the parking lot is done there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony.
