Dates set for Pine Tree Festival

The dates have been set for this year’s Pine Tree Festival! The 75th anniversary celebration will take place May 6 and May 7 in downtown Swainsboro.
Festivities will begin Friday night with, as usual, the Rhythm & Pines Music Festival, bringing the popular Swingin’ Medallions to town.
Saturday, of course, will bring back the usual events locals and out-of-towners alike have come to know and love. This will the Knotty Pine 5K, the grand parade, a car show, arts and crafts vendors set up downtown, and the kids zone. Team FMX, a motorcycle stunt show group, will visit the Crossroads of the Great South, as will K9s In Flight, a group of “flying” performance dogs.
The Pine Tree Festival Pageants as well as the Pine Tree Festival Flower Show return this year as well.
Look for specifics about these events to be announced as the Pine Tree Festival draws nearer.
This year’s celebration is being organized with a special sense of pride; it will officially mark the 75th anniversary of the festival’s organization.
Established in 1946, the Pine Tree Festival would have held its 75th annual event in 2020. However, that celebration was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding that the pandemic’s effects continued into the following year, the Emanuel County Festival Foundation, the organizing body of the Pine Tree Festival, hosted a slightly scaled-back version of the event—the 74.5 Pine Tree Festival—in 2021.
Festival organizers are looking forward to celebrating the 75th Pine Tree Festival with the public in grand fashion in just a few months. This year’s festival will feature more fun an entertainment options than ever before, so be sure to visit beautiful downtown Swainsboro on May 6-7, 2022.
