The varsity boys baseball team traveled to Fullington Academy on February 28 and took on the Trojans. The boys were handed their first loss of the year at that time, falling 11–4. The photographs with this story are from that contest and were submitted by the school on Monday.
The Eagles’ schedule also indicates they were to take on Central Georgia Arts last Thursday on the road, and they were set to travel to Saint Andrews on Tuesday, March 8. Neither photographs nor stats were available for either of those contests as of press time. As always, look for The Chronicle to provide updates, should they become available.
Also on tap this week are a Thursday game versus Thomas Jefferson at 4 p.m., a Friday game versus Habersham at 5 p.m., and a Monday home game versus Nathanael Greene at 4 p.m. All of these contests will be played in Stillmore.
The middle school Eagles have begun their season as well, beating Langston Chapel in Statesboro on February 28 by a score of 16–6. Pitchers combining for the win were Layton Terwilliger, Jack Evan Fields, and Peyton Templeton.
Their next game took place March 1 against John Hancock, and the Eagles rolled through the Rebels 17–1. Judd Wilkes, David Vautier, and Karson Kettles split time on the mound for the victory.
On March 3, the Eagles took on Thomas Jefferson and defeated the Jaguars 14–4. Terwilliger, Templeton, and Tucker Free are credited as the winning pitchers.
Finally, the middle school boys traveled to Central Georgia Arts in Macon on Monday, March 7, and fell for the first time this season, 7–3. Fields and Templeton led the way on the mound.
