
The Eagles of David Emanuel Academy split its games last week added to its already successful season this past week, handing a major loss to Nathanael Greene Academy on Thursday. The high-scoring win for DEA was a welcomed righting of the ship as the Eagles had fallen to The Habersham School just two days prior.
Stats from the contest against the Habersham Patriots were unavailable at press time. Information on maxpreps.com indicated a 10-0 loss for the Eagles at historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah on March 23.
The Eagle offense had been tuned up and was firing on all cylinders by Thursday as David Emanuel arrived in Siloam to take on the Nat Greene Patriots. In the end, the varsity Eagles returned to Stillmore with a 23-8 pummeling of their opponents.
In route to the win, Rylie Rowland and Cavan Calhoun split time on the mound. Rowland threw 2 innings with 4 strikeouts while Calhoun went a majority of the distance, tossing 4 innings with 7 strikeouts.
Dane Arrington led the scoring, plating 4 runs. Rowland recorded a double and scored 3 runs, Timothy Braddock recorded a double of his own and scored 2 runs, and Brayden Smith, Racyn Faircloth, and Calhoun all added 3 runs apiece. Clayton Hood and Riley Rowland scored 2 runs each, and Jaxson Wiggins rounded out the offensive effort, plating 1 run.
Heading into last week’s games, the Eagles were 5-2. With the win against Nat Greene and the loss against Habersham, DEA now sits at 6-3 on the year.
The Eagles’ schedule on DEA’s website shows no games this week. Instead, the Eagles aren’t scheduled to play again until Tuesday, April 6, on the road against John Hancock and at home in Stillmore against Nat Greene on Thursday, April 8. First pitch for the first game next week is set for 4:30 p.m. while first pitch of Thursday’s game is set for 4 p.m. Look for results in a future edition of The Crossroads Chronicle.
