
David Emanuel Academy’s varsity and middle school tennis teams have been busy lately, taking on three schools in two days.
The latest in tennis action for DEA saw the Eagles match up against Faith Christian, and the varsity team came away with three wins. Peyton Lee defeated Ben Ford 8–3, Paxton Dixon defeated Ethan Baker 8–0, and doubles team Kyli Bell and Emma Proctor won 8–6.
Two middle school teams secured wins over Faith Christian as well, starting with doubles team Scout Hall and Paxton Dixon winning their first match 8–0 and their second match 8–4. Doubles team River Holloway and Chloe Daniel won 8–3.
Four other middle school Eagles competed that day, including AJ Edenfield, Mathew Fordham, Sheppard Purcell, and Thomas Cain.
The next day, April 12, consisted of matches against The Habersham School and Heritage Academy.
Ann Carol Daniel downed Heritage’s Diya Thakor 8–5; Daniel would fall in a singles match against Habersham, however, 8–5.
Emma Taylor slit the day as well, beating Heritage’s Nealie Claire 8–2 before losing to Habersham in singles action 8–1.
Dixon picked up a singles win over a Heritage player, 8–5, but dropped a match 8–1 versus Habersham.
Doubles team Jesse Moore and Lee defeated Heritage’s #1 doubles team by a score of 8–1. Habersham’s #1 doubles team would down Moore and Lee 8–3 in the next round.
Doubles team Ashlyn Hall and Alivia Fortner put up a valiant effort against the #1 doubles teams from Heritage and Habersham, but it wouldn’t be enough as they fell 8–1 and 8–3.
Finally, doubles team Cora Ellington and Cayley Flanders lost to Heritage and Habersham as well, 8–3 and 8–6 respectively.
