David “Shorty” Grimes, 77

Funeral services for David “Shorty” Grimes, 77 of Twin City, were held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Jarriel officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. He passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. David “Shorty” Grimes was born July 31, 1944 to the late W.C. Grimes Sr. and Thelma McCullough Grimes. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and working on cars. He especially loved his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Grimes; son, Wayne Grimes; brothers, Walter Grimes and Allen Grimes; and sisters, Evelyn Sikes, Martha Grimes, and Mary Goodman.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann Grimes and Cheryl Akridge (Buck Walker) of Twin City; sister, Earlene Archer (Lamar); grandchildren, David “Bubba” Williams (Robin Parker) and Caleb Akridge; great grandchildren, Bentley Williams, Kataleena Williams, and Walker Hall; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers were Norman Goodman, Ronnie Goodman, W.C. Grimes, Troy Berry, Jody Johnson, and Bill Bird.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
