DEA baseball goes 2-2 in busy week
By Justin Gray
The DEA Eagles have gotten off to a good start to the season. This week they had a four game week and if you know baseball, you know that can be tough. They started the week by taking on Habersham and this was an easy win for the Eagles in a 18-2 blowout. Cavan Calhoun, Nolan Powell, and Peyton Templeton combined for five innings and nine strikeouts. It was a team effort at the plate as they totaled 12 hits.
Game two of the week was away at Covenant. The Eagles fought into extra innings before falling 3-2 in eight. Brody Fleming and Clayton Hood were dominant going seven combined innings and striking out ten. Hood and Jaxson Wiggins both went 1-4 at the plate.
In game three, the Eagles headed to St. Andrews, but weren’t welcomed well as they were defeated 16-1. The Eagles got a chance to avenge their loss as they took on St. Andrews at home and they did just that. The Eagles took this one 8-6 behind their hot bats. Brody Fleming went 3-3 with two doubles at the plate and Jaxson Wiggins followed him up with a 2-3 day.
The Eagles took on Twiggs Academy at home on Tuesday, March 14. They will go to Vidalia Heritage, Friday, March 17. There were no results of Tuesdays game at press time.
