By Justin Gray

“Winners are willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else.” -Vince Lombardi.

That’s exactly what this DEA Boys Basketball team does. This team is led by the same guys that lead the football team to a State Title, and they are still hungry to keep winning. They are off to an undefeated 5-0 start.

The roster includes Seniors Ebb McCullough, Racyn Faircloth, and Jesse Moore. Juniors Billy Martin, Randon Williams, Tony Sutton, and Jay Carter. Sophomore Peyton Lee and Freshmen Richard Braddy, Brody Fleming, Revan Fortner, Landon Lindsey and Peyton Templeton.

They started the season with a win over Glascock County 52-28, Billy Martin led the way with 16 points. Next they played Fullington and got the win 59-39, controlling the game the whole way. In game three, they beat Nathanael Greene Academy in obliterating fashion winning 73-13. They took down EBA in the fourth game winning 47-37 led by Racyn Faircloth who had 18 points in the contest.

Their fifth game they took on Habersham. This was a great game from start to finish, the teams battled it out, but it was DEA who came out on top 65-63. Four players combined for all the scoring for the Eagles, Faircloth had 10 points, Martin 18, Jesse Moore 12, and Randon Williams led the way with 25 points.

Head Coach Daniel Flowers said, “I am super proud of our team. They play extremely hard each night and are fun to coach. Cannot wait to see what this team can do this season.”

This season has been nothing short of amazing so far and the Eagles will look to continue that by taking on Crisp Academy on Thursday, January 5 and Monsignor Donovan Catholic on the following day.

Go support this team, they are fun to watch!
