DEA football preview (and schedule)

By Justin Gray

Can the Eagles keep up their dominance? They sure are prepared to. The Eagles have been going to work every day to prove they are going somewhere. The Eagles have reached at least the State Semi-finals the last three seasons, and played for a state championship two seasons ago.

To say that expectations are high for the Eagles is accurate, but Head Coach Clint Inman says that they “don’t listen to the outside noise and expectations, they are just blue collar and go to work.”

They're led by a big senior class in Racyn Faircloth, Riley Griner, Heath Johnson, Jesse Moore, Ebb McCullough, Ace Ely, and Justin Newsome who are looking to leave their final mark.

The senior class is followed by a big group of Juniors in Ben Bennett, Randon Williams, John Kersey, Tony Sutton, Jay Carter, Billy Martin, and Ben Flanders; this group have played their part in the Eagles success as well.

The Eagles have a superb group of underclassmen, who will be counted on a lot during the season. The Eagles have two, two-time all state-level players in Jesse Moore and Racyn Faircloth, who are key to the Eagles' success. Coach Inman believes that if they play to their ability and stay healthy they will be in the mix of it when it matters.

The offense will feature some new names as Freshman Richard Braddy will get some snaps at Quarterback along with Tony Sutton and Billy Martin carrying the load in the run game.

Every Friday Night is a battle, and the Eagles have plenty of battles and every game is just as important as the next, but Coach Inman says some of the toughest challenges will be Windsor Academy, Westwood School, Westminster, and John Hancock Academy.

The Eagles will play host to John Hancock Academy to open the season on September 1st at 7:30 PM.
