Debbie LaVelle Nelms, 67

Memorial services for Debbie LaVelle Nelms, 67 of Murphy, North Carolina, will be held privately at a later date. She passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hospice of Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee following an extended illness.

Mrs. Debbie LaVelle Nelms was born August 1, 1954 in Habersham County to the late William Waymon House and Hazel LaVelle Dean House. She was an Army veteran who enjoyed collecting cans. Mrs. Nelms was an animal lover, working as a veterinary technician as well as in the hospitality industry. She was of the Protestant faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nelms, and her brother, Stanley House.

Survivors include her sister, Terri Fleming of Adrian; nephews, Van R. Fleming Jr. and Christopher Fleming, both of Adrian; niece, Melissa L. Fleming of Adrian; and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
