Don’t forget! SECRD still accepting registrants for spring sports


As a courtesy reminder, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department is still accepting spring sports registrants until January 29 at its home office, 632 McLeod Bridge Road, Swainsboro, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registration period began January 25.


First-time participants must bring a birth certificate. The cost is $35, and insurance can be added for another $6. Spring sports include:


• T-ball (for 3- and 4-year-olds) and coach pitch (for 5- and 6-year-olds). Players must be 3 before May 1, 2021 and cannot turn 7 before May 1, 2021. Players who turn 6-years-old before May 1, 2021 have the option of playing coach pitch or youth baseball/girls softball.


• Youth baseball (ages 6 to 12). Players must be 7 on or before September 1, 2021 and cannot turn 13 before September 2, 2021. Players who turn 6-years-old before May 1, 2021 have the option of playing coach pitch or youth baseball.


• Girls softball (ages 7 to 17). Players must be 7 on or before September 1, 2021 and cannot turn 18 before September 2, 2021. Girls who turn 6-years-old before May 1, 2021 have the choice to play coach pitch or softball.
