Don’t forget to vote!

Here’s your weekly reminder to get out and vote! The 2021 General/Special Election is set for November 2, but you can skip the lines and vote early if you so desire.

Early voting began October 12 and runs through October 29. This period includes two Saturdays; the first of those two, October 16, has already passed, but there’s still another on October 23.

If you want to vote early, you’ll need to do that at the elections office in Swainsboro. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, absentee voting started with the earliest day to request a ballot on August 16 and will run until 11 days before the election. If you requested an absentee ballot, expect those in your mailbox any day now as they should’ve been mailed out to voters on October 11.

If you’re more of a traditional voter who prefers to cast your ballot on Election Day, report to your assigned precinct. Polls will open at 7 a.m. that day and remain open until 7 p.m.

A number of important issues will be determined by this election, including the countywide ESPLOST referendum as well as Swainsboro’s new mayor, various seats on Swainsboro City Council, a Stillmore City Council race. Details about these candidates are included in a full-page advertisement inside this edition.
