Doris “Dottie” Griffin Rountree, 73

Funeral services for Doris “Dottie” Griffin Rountree, 73 of Swainsboro, were held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Will Martin and Mr. Rick Berry officiating. Interment followed in the church’s cemetery. The family received friends Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church. She passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Doris “Dottie” Griffin Rountree was born November 21, 1948 in Lyons to the late Eric Griffin and Hazel Fuller Griffin. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and camping at Lake Burton. She especially loved attending extracurricular events for her grandchildren. Mrs. Rountree was a member of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Walton and Lillie Griffin as well as sister Saundra Martin.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Elder Tommy Rountree of Swainsboro; sons, Timothy Rountree (Paige) of Statesboro and Matthew Rountree (Jessica) of Swainsboro; daughter, Tammy Rountree Davis of Statesboro; grandchildren, Griffin Davis, Will Rountree, Chloe Rountree, all of Statesboro, and Ellie Rountree of Swainsboro; special cousin, Michael Griffin (Deborah) of Twin City; brother, Eric Griffin Jr. (Mary) of The Florida Keys; sister, Faye Frazier of Logan, Utah; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers were Matthew Rountree, Timothy Rountree, Griffin Davis, Will Rountree, Michael Griffin, and Taylor Brett.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to PruittHealth Hospice of Swainsboro or Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
