By: Justin Gray

David Durden, an ECI Graduate, is a wide receiver at the University of West Florida. Durden has been impressing people with his athletic ability for years.
After graduating high school, he was drafted in the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th Round, he played 30 games and then he chose to go play football at Mercer where he achieved many accolades including, 2019 First Team All-SoCon Return Specialist, 2019 Second Team All-SoCon Wide Receiver, 2019 Phil Steele’s All-SoCon Second Team, 2018 HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-American, 2018 SoCon All-Freshman Offense Team.
After two great seasons at Mercer, Durden decided to transfer to where he is now, West Florida. Durden has been with the team for 2 seasons, but only played one, due to COVID-19 canceling their season.
In 2021, he appeared in nine games and missed two because of injury. In those nine games he was as productive as a player can be, leading the team in receiving with 787 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, scoring at least one in his first five games. It was a great campaign for Durden as he ranked second in receiving yards per game and catch, and also third in receiving touchdowns on his way to being named First Team All-GSC and a Don Hansen All-America Honorable Mention.
After a productive 2021 season, Durden returns for his Senior season being named to the Preseason All-GSC Team and ready to lead the receiving corps once again! You can catch him in action on September 3 vs Warner University.
