EAC to host Art Block Party
By Jacquie Brasher

Emanuel Arts Council will host the first Art Block Party on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the 100 block of Green Street. The EAC has received permission to have the street closed during that time. The EAC is located at 109 N. Green Street, next to Bangles II.
The event is sponsored by Advanced Metal Components, Mill Creek Foundation, Citizens Bank, Durden Banking Company, Daniels Chevrolet, Hotset America, and Swainsboro Rotary Club.
Artwork by students of Swainsboro High School, Emanuel County Institute, and East Georgia State College will be displayed on Green Street across from the EAC, and a sidewalk chalk contest for the art students will be conducted on both sides of the street. Donald Jenkins will be playing music beginning at 5 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners of artwork and the sidewalk chalk contest.
The Kalmanson Gallery will also be open during the event. Anyone who missed the reception for Cal “The Barn Hunter” Avery is welcome to visit. His photos will be on display in the gallery.
