The DEA Eagles have advanced in the GAPPS playoffs, beating Victory Baptist soundly this past Friday night.
Starting things off for David Emanuel was Jesse Moore, who went on a 46-yard run to quickly put up the Eagles 6–0. The 2-point conversion was unsuccessful, but Moore and company wasted no time increasing their lead as he went on a second run, this time for 6 yards, for the home team’s second touchdown of the night for a 12–0 lead.
The 2-point conversion was good this go ‘round as Clayton Hood connected with Randon Williams to make the score 14–0.
The Warriors answered to a degree and put up their first 8 points of the contest, but David Emanuel came blazing back on the very next drive. Racyn Faircloth streaked 65 yards downfield to lengthen the difference between his team and Victory Baptist. Riley Griner looked to Braydon Smith for a successful 2-point conversion, and the Eagles led 22–8.
On the next drive, Faircloth added to his total yardage for the night with a 35-yard haul for David Emanuel’s fourth touchdown. Though the 2-point conversion failed, DEA still led 28–8.
Coach Clint Inman looked to Timothy Braddock to seal the deal on the Eagles’ offensive effort, and he answered with a 2-yard run into the end zone to score David Emanuel’s last touchdown of the night for a 34–8 lead. Smith ran in the 2-point conversion and DEA’s final tally for the night stayed at 36.
Victory Baptist managed one more touchdown, but the Eagles—as they’ve done mostly all year—had the win in hand already. When the buzzer sounded, DEA won 36–14, advancing to the second round of the playoffs while eliminating the Warriors.
Hood is also credited with an interception during the latest match-up.
David Emanuel will resume gridiron action this Friday night, traveling to Cumming to take on Horizon Christian Academy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
