East Fall Line Region members attend meeting in Barnesville

Members of the East Fall Line Region of the Georgia Society – Sons of the American Revolution traveled to Barnesville on April 23 to attend the board of management’s latest meeting.

The Georgia Society’s board of management meetings are held quarterly to discuss and pass items for state membership.

For the first quarter, 33 of the 35 chapters in the Georgia Society attended the meeting either in-person or via Zoom.

One of the main items up for passage was the re-organization of several regions to make it easier for the regional vice presidents to attend chapter meetings and to even out the regions with the total number of chapters.

Also, the group discussed 2022 National Society Congress, which will be held in July 2022 in Savannah, and the society was updated on the progress by Chairman Allen Greenly.

The 2022 National Society Congress is being hosted by the Georgia Society.

Attending the meeting from the East Fall Line Region were: East Fall Line Region Vice President Bill Tankersley, Dess Smith III of the Wiregrass Chapter, Lee Smith of the Brier Creek Chapter, John Tapley of the Wiregrass Chapter, and Alton McCloud of the Little River Chapter

Jane Durden of Swainsboro joined them as well. She serves as president of the Georgia Society’s Women’s Auxiliary and is a member of the Governor David Emanuel-Adam Brinson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
