For the first time in program history, the ECI boys tennis team has brought home region hardware.
On Friday, April 1, the Dawgs traveled to Screven County and competed for the region championship.
After going 4–1 during the regular season against region foes, the Dawgs opened the tournament against Metter. ECI downed the Tigers 4–1 to put themselves in the title match against Screven County.
Returning six of seven starters from the state runner-up squad from a year ago, the Gamecocks would prove to be too much for the Dawgs, winning 3–0–2.
ECI’s season isn’t over, however. The Bulldogs will host the first round of state at Harmon Park on April 19, entering the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from Region 3-A.
