
The torrid play of the ECI men’s tennis team continued this past week, picking up a pair of victories over Vidalia and Bryan County.
The visiting Bulldogs stormed singles play to pick up a 4–1 victory over the Indians in the non-conference clash.
Henry Hobbs continued his dominance in the #1 slot, winning his match 6–0, 6–0. In his eight matches on the season, Hobbs remains undefeated.
Nathan Headrick and Landen Canady won their second and third singles matches (6–3, 2–6,10–7) (6–2, 6–2) respectively. Senior Silas Frew and freshman Ethan Goodman dominated their second doubles match 6–2, 6–1.
Bryan County, a region foe, traveled to Harmon Park to take on the Dawgs Thursday afternoon, and ECI made quick work of the Redskins.
Hobbs won 6–1, 6–0 while Headrick and Canady won their singles matches 6–0, 6–2. The Goodman brothers made their doubles debut, winning 6–2, 6–3 while seniors Trevor Radford and James Sutton posted a winning score of 6–1, 6–2.
With a 5–3 record and undefeated thus far in region play, the Dawgs now move into the pivotal second half of the season. This week, ECI hosted Claxton on Tuesday and will host Jenkins County on Thursday at 4 p.m.
