ECI Bulldogs represent at state track meet

Emanuel County Institute was represented by six student-athletes at the GHSA Class A State Track & Field Championships held May 13-15 at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. One individual finished in the top four while a number of other competitors finished in the top 13.


Ajayla Holmes took fourth place in the shot put with a distance of 31 feet, 4”.


The girls 4x100m relay team of Olivia Canady, Emma Mason, Jada Steele, and Semya Williams took seventh in prelims with a time of 51.99 seconds. In the finals, the team took eighth with a time of 53.06 seconds.


As an individual, Mason finished seventh in the high jump with a distance of 4 feet, 8”. She also took ninth place in the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet, 11.5” and 10th place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.63 seconds.


Another Bulldog, Williams in the long jump, took ninth in her respective individual events. Williams’ distance was 15 feet, 1.5”.


Canady, in the 200m dash, finished 12th with a time of 27.80 seconds.


Wrapping up ECI’s state performances was Braden Barwick in the 3200m run with a time of 13 minutes, 11.90 seconds.
