ECI drops series against Metter
By Justin Gray
The Bulldogs took on Metter in a three-game set, to set their rotation up for the region series coming up. Game one was at home and the Dawgs struggled to get anything going in this one as they dropped it 8-1. Hudson Henry added to his home run total on the year, hitting a solo shot in the second inning.
The last two games were played in a double header Thursday due to rain. The first game of the double header was a shootout as Metter walked it off and defeated the Dawgs 8-7. Bryce Kearson took the loss in this one after going six and a third innings while striking out six. The Dawgs tallied two homers on the day, one coming from Lawson Mercer and the other from Henry again.
Game three was the Dawgs game to win and they came out swinging. This one was a barn burner as it took nine innings to decide the winner and it was the Dawgs that came out on top on a Gabe Lee single. Jacob Durden started the game for the Dawgs and went six innings striking out four. The Dawgs had a great day at the plate as they totaled ten hits, Henry and Kearson both had multiple hit games. Tuff Boddiford went deep in the eighth inning and PJ Farnum stole two bags in the win.
This was a big win going into region play! They hosted McIntosh County Academy on Tuesday, March 14. The Bulldogs will travel to their place on Friday, March 17 for a double header. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 4:00 P.M. There were no results of Tuesdays game at press time.
