Emanuel County Institute’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to the state leadership conference in Atlanta last week and returned home with several high awards. Two competitors are moving on to nationals this summer, and leader Jessica Smith was tapped as the top adviser for ECI’s region.
Total, 10 members from ECI attended the conference, which spanned March 10 through March 13. During the gathering, these members competed in and assisted with various events. Additionally, members attended numerous leadership classes.
The ECI chapter received awards that included: being named a Superior Gold Chapter in the Chapter of the Year Program, receiving second overall chapter in the Division 2 of Chapter of the Year Program, and being recognized as part of the 100 Member Club and Member Achievement, thanks to ECI FBLA increasing its membership over the last year.
Alaya Hudson and Lily Kate Robertson took fourth place in Local Chapter Annual Business Report and will move on to nationals this summer in Chicago, Illinois.
Jessica Smith was named Adviser of the Year for Region 4.
Furthermore, Will Sasser, Wallee Kersey, and Smith Willoughby received an award in the Business Achievement Capstone category and Salma Cueva received the Community Service Achievement Award for having more than 100 volunteer hours.
“I am extremely proud of this group of students,” Smith said after the conference. “They have worked very hard to ensure success in their competition.”
