ECI Football Looking to Build Off of Good Performance

By: Justin Gray

Playing host to defending AA State Champions Fitzgerald is no easy task, but ECI competed impressively with them and that's all you can ask for. Weather stopped this game from finishing as well. They played roughly around a quarter and combined for a total of 25 plays.

Fitzgerald scored one touchdown after an ECI turnover. The teams had a turnover apiece with their impressive defensive play.

The Bulldogs have always been such a defensive machine and it looks as if nothing has changed.

The offense has some kinks to work out, but that's what this time of year is for. Coach Kearson said, “I thought just from the brief amount of plays we ran our kids were not starstruck by having the defending State Champion on our field. I was pleased with our effort, not pleased with the ball security, alignment on defense and ability to gain points on a drive I felt like we had some momentum. This week we need improved conditioning, pad level and execution.

The Bulldogs will go back to work and prepare for the Metter Tigers, August 26th at home.
