ECI Head Coach Chris Kearson

By Justin Gray

The Crossroads Chronicle reached out to ECI Head Football Coach Chris Kearson for a question and answer session about the upcoming season.

  1. What are your expectations for your team this season? Our expectations are to compete for region championships, make the state playoffs, and play deep in the playoffs. We've got a very difficult non-region schedule that will challenge our team every Friday night.

  2. What matchups on the schedule are the toughest? Not to sound cliche' but every game on our schedule is gonna be a dog fight. In order to find out what kind of heart and fight we have it's important to test ourselves early and often. We have State champions on our schedule(Fitzgerald scrimmage), we have teams that are semifinalists and also teams that are mainstays in the state playoffs.

  3. Who are the captains/team leaders for the team? It's still early to establish leaders for the team but I like the chemistry of our team and our Senior class should be the leaders of our team.

  4. After a good playoff run, the expectations are high. How is your team handling those expectations? We've got a nucleus of players that have experience from last year's team. The schedule won't allow us to be complacent, it's gonna be a challenge but it also makes for a fun season

  5. Who are some of the young guys that you are expecting a lot from this year? We have a good group of freshmen and sophomores that are gonna have to contribute on Friday nights in order for us to be successful. I really don't like to single players by name because what we do is such a group effort.

The Crossroads Chronicle would like to give a special thanks to Coach Kearson for the interview. We would also like to wish the ECI Football good luck for the upcoming season.
