ECI Softball Rolling Through Region Play

By Justin Gray

It’s been nearly a month since I last covered ECI softball and they haven’t lost since. They have won seven in a row and five of those have been region games as they are in first place in the region. In that seven game winning streak they have outscored opponents 57-5. This is the benefit of playing such a tough non-conference schedule like the Lady Dawgs have.

They have six games left before postseason play begins. They are led at the plate by Charla Clifton with a .480 batting average, two home runs and Jayna Kearson batting .382 with a homer as well. The team as a whole is batting a whopping .312 clip, this is one of the more impressive hitting teams I have seen. On the mound, they are led by none other than Charla Clifton who has been very impressive to this point, her ERA is 1.54 in 88 innings and she has struck out 113 batters while only surrendering 47 hits and 13 walks.

This team is one of the best in the state and they have proven that to this point. I look to see this team make a deep run in the playoffs. This week they play McIntosh County Academy on Tuesday, September 27th at home and Montgomery County Wednesday September 28th on the road. Go out and support these girls as the season winds down!
