ECI splits non-region week
By Justin Gray
Coming into the week the Bulldogs planned to stay on the roll they’ve been on, but Toombs County and Savannah Country Day would try their best to keep that from happening. They headed to Toombs for the first game of the week and handed the ball to Lawson Mercer, who struck out five. The Bulldogs had a great day as they outhit Toombs 13-10, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 8-4. Several Dawgs had a multi-hit game in Bryce Kearson, Gabe Lee, Tuff Boddiford, Jacob Durden, Charlie Rehberg, and Aiden McQuiag. Boddiford, also homered in the game.
The second game was much more fun for the Dawgs as they traveled to SCD and obliterated them, 12-0. The Bulldogs totalled 12 runs on 15 hits in the dominant performance. Several Dawgs had big days at the plate, but none bigger than Bryce Kearson who went 4-5 with four RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. All nine starters had at least one hit for the Dawgs. Kearson capped off his big day with a shutout on the mound going six innings, striking out ten and only allowing four hits. Andrew Chalkley threw the seventh inning to finish it for the Dawgs.
ECI will be back in action this week as they have a region set with Portal, this will decide the region. Game one was held Monday, April 3rd at home at 4:00 P.M., and games two and three were in Portal on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. There were no game results as of press time.
