ECI tennis looking to build on 2021

The 2022 tennis season has arrived, and the ECI varsity tennis program is looking to build on last year’s success.

The girls team is led by lone senior Jacey Allen and returning underclassmen Haley Patel, Alaina Conley, and Brailey Radford. Last year’s team were all first-year players and gained a lot of valuable game experience, which they look to turn into victories this season. An incoming group of talented freshmen round out a team with the most potential the girls program has seen in years.

The composition of the boys program could not be more different. This group is dense in experience with six seniors embarking on their final season. For the second time in program history, the boys advanced to the state playoffs in 2021 and earned a third place finish in the region. From top to bottom, this is the most talented team that has taken the court for the Bulldogs. For this team to eclipse last year’s success will require every bit of talent and experience. Standing in the Bulldogs’ way is Screven County, the 2021 region champion and state runner-up. The 2022 home opener will be February 23 at Harmon Park against Johnson County. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
