ECI tennis sweeps Claxton, advances to state playoffs

The ECI boys tennis team recently completed the Region 3-A tournament and have advanced to the first round of the state playoffs.

After falling to Metter in the opening match-up, the boys would face off against the Claxton Tigers.

Junior Henry Hobbs won his match 2-0 in the first singles slot. The first set was decided by a score of 6-1 and the second set 6-3.

Landon Goodman cruised to victory over his opponent in the second singles match-up 6-1 and 6-0.

Nathan Headrick also won his third singles match-up 6-0 and 6-2.

The doubles team of Trevor Radford and James Sutton pulled out a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

The second doubles pair of Landon Canady and Jack Black won 6-0 and 6-0.

This is a great accomplishment for the players and the program. ECI does not have a middle school program. These players are often competing against opponents who have years of experience over them. Advancing to the state playoffs is a testament to their dedication and work ethic.

The first round of the playoffs has yet to be scheduled as ECI awaits the results of the Region 2 tournament. Look for more information at a later date.
