EGSC holds fall commencement


East Georgia State College held its fall commencement ceremony Saturday, December 11, at 10 a.m. inside the gymnasium on the Swainsboro campus. Friends and family of the graduates were welcome to attend the event.

Dr. Sandra Sharman, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, welcomed the graduates and their families to the ceremony. Ben Beverly, an EGSC Correll Scholar, sang “God Bless America,” followed by EGSC graduate Sanjay Narsee, who presented the reflection.

The speaker for the ceremony was Dr. Mary Waalkes, a professor of history at EGSC–Augusta. Dr. Waalkes received her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, specializing in U.S. history and focusing on the South and African American history. She currently teaches U.S. history survey and Western Civilization at EGSC–Augusta.

Incoming president of EGSC Dr. David Schecter was introduced at the commencement ceremony and presented each graduate with their diplomas.
