EGSC softball claims four-game sweep against SGSC

The East Georgia State College’s softball team won two games against South Georgia State on Tuesday, April 6, and completed the four-game sweep on the road Thursday, April 8.
In Game 1, Britney Foster allowed no runs on just four hits to get the win in just five innings as the Lady Bobcats scored 11 runs for the victory. At the plate for East Georgia with two-hit performances were Jana Crews, Alaina Lee, Allana Hooks, Taylor Morgan, and Dani Wells. Hooks had a three-run homer as the Lady Bobcats cruised to the 11-0 victory.
In Game 2, the Lady Bobcats pulled out a close one with an 11-10 victory. On the mound in Game 2 was Madison Bussell getting the win and Madison Poole getting the save for the team. East Georgia State would pound out 11 runs on 16 hits. Leading the way for the Lady Bobcats were Crews, Lee, Hooks, Morgan, Wells, Sierra Taylor, and Mackenzie Wilkerson.
In the four-game sweep of South Georgia State, the Lady Bobcats scored 41 runs while allowing South Georgia to score just 13 runs. With the wins, the Bobcats are now 10-4 in the GCAA Conference and in a great position for seeding in the playoffs if they remain atop the conference.
Head coach Chuck Wimberly stated after the four-game sweep, “We are hitting the ball extremely well as a team right now. Our batters are all producing runs and hits throughout the batting order, and anytime you can win or sweep on the road, you will give yourself a chance in the playoffs which are just around the corner at the start of May.”
