EGSC softball stays atop GCAA Conference


The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcat softball team swept South Georgia State College last week on the softball diamond to stay at the top of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Conference.


The Lady Bobcats won Game 1 in extra innings by a score of 6–3.


East Georgia was led on the mound by Britney Foster and Cierra Kinlaw with Kinlaw getting the win for the Lady Bobcats in Game 1.


At the plate, Bailey Davis led all hitters with 2 hits and 1 RBI. Sierra Taylor had a double on the day with Ashleigh Miles driving in 2 runs for East Georgia. Kylee Ussery and Lexi McQuaig each had RBIs for the team, which improved to 6–1 in the conference with the victory in Game 1.


In Game 2, the Lady Bobcats dominated from the start with Makenzie Wilkerson leading the way with 4 RBIs on the day with a double and a home run for the team. Stephanie Ruffin had 1 RBI, and McQuaig drove in 2 runs to give the Lady Bobcats the 9–5 win in seven innings of work.


More importantly, the team improved to 7–1 in the conference and remain in first place.
