EGSC Softball Team picks up first scrimmage win of the Fall season

The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats Softball Team opened the Fall scrimmage season on the road this past weekend at the College of Charleston. The Lady Bobcats looked to be just as impressive as last season's team and picked up right where they left off against the 4-year College of Charleston program.

The Bobcats picked up the victory in the opening 2022 scrimmage by a score of 4 to 2. Leading the way for the Bobcats on the mound were Cierra Kinlaw and Ashleigh Miles. Kinlaw pitched 3 and 1/3rd innings allowing just one hit and one run, with Miles allowing just one hit and one run as well to close out the scrimmage win.

At the plate the Bobcats were impressive with power hitters all over the place. Alyssa Barbrick and Ashleigh Miles led the Lady Bobcats with doubles on the day.

The Bobcats got to the Charleston pitchers early in the scrimmage with Cam Cook, Molly Gayles, Bailee Smith, Summer Alexander, Mo Jenkins, Savanna Bibbins, and Bailey Davis all helping the Bobcat cause in the scrimmage win.

Head Coach Chuck Wimberly was most excited in his team's opening scrimmage victory over the 4-year program. "We played really well, and we had a lot of energy when we got off the bus. We were not intimidated by the 4-year program and our team wanted to showcase their hard work this fall by competing against a quality program, and we did that at all levels of the game," said Wimberly.

When asked what most impressed him of the Lady Bobcats performance, Wimberly added, "We were on the road in our first fall scrimmage of the year against a 4-year program and to see how well we played and how much talent we have is truly impressive to me. This is only the 13th year of athletics at our college and to see how far we have come in just a short time and the amount of talent that is at our college and wants to come to our college and play is simply amazing!"

The Lady Bobcats play next weekend in a scrimmage game against Georgia Gwinnett.
